TCF : French Knowledge Test

The TCF is intended for all non-French-speaking audiences to validate their knowledge of French.
This test places candidates on one of the six levels of the CECR (from A1 to C2). It consists of three compulsory tests: oral comprehension, mastery of language structures, written comprehension and two opcional tests: oral expression and written expression.
It is carried out on a computer.

  • Obligatory tests (1h30): 87€
  • Optional oral test (15 min): 74€

TCF ANF : French Knowledge Test for French Nationality

The "TCF for French nationality" was specifically designed to meet the provisions relating to the control of knowledge of the French language for applicants for the acquisition of French nationality.
The certificate of the "TCF for French nationality" is valid only for a file of application for acquisition of the French nationality by marriage or by naturalization.

The "TCF for French nationality" includes four obligatory tests: listening (duration: 30 minutes), reading (duration: 45minutes), writing (duration: 30 minutes)  and speaking (duration: 10 minutes).

TCF DAP : French Knowledge Test for preliminary admission application
If you wish to register in France, in the first year of your bachelor's degree (L1) or in an architecture school and you do not hold a DELF B2 or DALF, you must go to the specific TCF for the prior admission application called "TCF for the DAP".


Good to know

  • Registration up to 7 days before the exam.
  • Test results at the end of the test.
  • Certification of results three weeks after the examination.

Taking the TCF ANF allows the candidate to obtain his results at the end of the test and his attestation of results within the week.
