The TCF is intended for all non-French-speaking audiences to validate their knowledge of French.
This test places candidates on one of the six levels of the CECR (from A1 to C2).
It consists of three compulsory tests:
oral comprehension
mastery of language structures
written comprehension
two opcional tests: oral expression and written expression.
TCF IRN: French language proficiency test Integration, residence and nationality
The "TCF for French nationality" was specifically designed to meet the provisions relating to the control of knowledge of the French language for applicants for the acquisition of French nationality.
The certificate of the "TCF for French nationality" is valid only for a file of application for acquisition of the French nationality by marriage or by naturalization.
This is based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) and assesses up to level B2 for the TCF IRN.
